The Centre for
Gender Studies (CGS), University of Uyo, in collaboration with the Conference
of University of Uyo Organisations will be celebrating the International
Women’s Day 2015 from 6th to 8th March, 2015 beginning at
10 a.m. everyday.
The theme of the
celebration is “Make it Happen!” A keynote will be given on this theme by Mrs.
Folorunso Alakija, the Group Managing Director of the Rose of Sharon Group/Executive
Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil Ltd; in addition to a symposium on the thematic
areas related to this topic.
The meeting will
provide a forum for celebrating womanhood. It shall also provide a platform for
sharing problems and solutions on gender and developmental issues. Beyond that, there will be an
opportunity to take concrete action points and follow-up on the symposium.
We invite you to
spend the weekend with the UNIUYO community as we explore various ways to make
things happen for the woman in different areas, through lectures, symposium,
rally, exhibition and awards.
