UNIUYO Students' Support Scheme Awards 2014/2015

The UNIUYO Students' Support Scheme has kicked off after a rigorous but transparent process. Eleven students were awarded scholarship, while thirty students were benefited from the Work Scheme. The event which took place yesterday 24th June, 2015, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Main Campus, was witnessed by the Management, Deans, Directors, Students and the University of Uyo.

June 23^rd is an annual global day of action approved by the United Nations to raise awareness about the plight of widows and their children across the cultures of the world and provide support for them. It addresses specifically poverty, grief, injustice, and all ills that widows face.

UNIUYO Students' Support Scheme Inauguration

The Management of the University of Uyo has over time observed that there is a large number of indigent students who are otherwise bright, sometimes academically outstanding, but whose low socio-economic status renders them incapable of supporting themselves through their studies in the University. There is a great need to salvage such students from waste for lack of funds. To do this, Management has conceptualized a scheme tagged “The Hope Scheme”, designed to see to it that no student of the University of Uyo with a promising academic prospect is allowed to waste and unable to graduate for reasons of economic disadvantage.
